Activation Manager, Amazon
OVERVIEW:
The Amazon Account Activation Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategies to drive sales, enhance brand visibility, and optimize marketing investments in the Amazon ecosystem for our 4 brands – Aquaphor, Coppertone, Nivea, and Eucerin. This role will report into our Director of Amazon. Beiersdorf USA offers a flexible working model for this role, but applicants must be located in a commutable distance to our Stamford, CT headquarters as this role is based in Stamford 3 days per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotional Strategy Development
- Plan and execute promotional campaigns tailored to the beauty and skincare categories, including:
- Amazon events such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and Beauty category events
- Daily deals, lightning deals, and coupons
- Develop and maintain a marketing calendar for Amazon, syncing with the broader marketing strategy. Align campaigns with product launches, seasonal trends, and beauty industry events.
- In collaboration with Director of Amazon and RGM, set and manage competitive pricing strategies for Amazon, while protecting margins. Ensure pricing compliance with company policies and Amazon guidelines.
- Collaborate with Amazon Account managers and the Amazon Vendor team to identify promotional opportunities.
- Lead Amazon GTM Strategy for all New Product Launches and Key Campaigns
- Takes ownership of the end-to-end process for launching new products on Amazon.
- Coordinates with teams to ensure successful setup, marketing, and sales performance.
- Manages milestones such as product listing creation, inventory planning, and advertising campaigns.
- Serves as key POC for brand teams and provides regular GTM strategy updates and milestones to broader teams.
- Budget Management
- Acutely manage trade marketing budgets for all Amazon campaigns.
- Allocate funds effectively across promotions, advertising, and content enhancements.
- Track spending and ensure ROI (Return on Investment) aligns with goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- This role works closely with the following teams:
- Amazon Account Managers and broader commercial sales organization to align trade promotions with sales targets.
- Ecommerce content teams to ensure that product listings, A+ content, and brand storefronts are regularly optimized for new campaigns and events
- Ecommerce Amazon Performance Marketing manager and Amazon Ads teams to integrate trade promotions with Amazon Advertising campaigns. Drive visibility for promotions through Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands, and DSP (Demand-Side Platform) campaigns.
- Ecommerce Data & Analytics team to deliver key insights across business to Account Director and broader organization.
- Marketing teams to integrate brand campaigns with Amazon-specific activities.
- Supply chain teams to ensure inventory availability during promotions.
- Attend weekly calls with Amazon Vendor teams to execute trade plans effectively. In collaboration with Director of Amazon, negotiate co-op advertising agreements and promotional opportunities.
- Data Analysis and Insights
- Analyze promotional performance using tools like Amazon Vendor Central analytics to measure KPIs such as incremental sales, conversion rates, and traffic.
- Tracking GMV, digital shelf, and media datapoints, identify and communicate insights to refine future promotional and GTM strategies.
- Responsible for providing all campaign reporting and post mortem analysis to broader teams.
- Competitive Analysis
- Monitor competitor activity on Amazon, including promotions, pricing, and advertising strategies. Adjust marketing tactics to maintain a competitive edge in the beauty and skincare categories.
- Brand Building
- Develop strategies to enhance brand presence within Amazon’s beauty category.
- Leverage Amazon-specific tools like Amazon Live, Posts, and Stores to create engaging brand experiences.
- Work closely with BDF integrated marketing team and media agencies to ensure we are leveraging best-in-class media strategies to amplify Amazon ecosystem.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as an Amazon subject matter expert within the organization, educating stakeholders about the platform’s opportunities and challenges.
- Work closely with brand teams and integrated media teams to provide visibility into platform health and new opportunities.
- Prepare and present regular performance reports and recommendations to leadership.
- Channel Growth Strategy
- Develop strategies to drive traffic, trial, and sales across 4 brands through test & learn strategies and thorough ROI analysis
- Contribute to the Amazon JBP and financial targets, including P&L management and maintenance, cost increase analysis and negotiation, and netPPM analysis.
- Work with cross-functional teams including Content, Digital Shelf & Media teams to have one cohesive view of Amazon customer strategy and performance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of total, relevant working experience is required – ecommerce, brand marketing, and/or media related roles.
- 5+ years of direct and hands-on experience with Amazon (knowledge of Vendor Central is a must, Seller Central is an added plus). Ideally, the candidate has previous experience as an Amazon Account Manager.
- BS Degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, MBA preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Amazon day-to-day operations, eCommerce account management, ecommerce best practices, digital shelf, data & analytics.
- CPG ecommerce experience is required, ideally in the beauty/skincare category.
- Media agency experience highly preferred. This candidate must have working knowledge of Amazon Ads and digital media best practices and/or CPG brand marketing experience.
- Expertise in trade marketing principles and promotional planning.
- Strong commercial experience in ecommerce and excellent analytical skills
- Strong ability to work cross functionally demonstrated in prior experience
- Self-starter, resilient and adaptable
- Must have excellent analytical and communication skills, and have experience working in fast paced global organization
