SAP allows customers to run their SAP S/4 HANA, and HANA applications, including SAP® Business Suite powered by SAP HANA and SAP NetWeaver® Business Warehouse powered by SAP HANA, in a managed private cloud environment either in SAP’s datacenters, Hyperscale Clouds IaaS Environments and in customers’ existing datacenters. SAP has established strategic partnerships with the major public cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), to offer customers choices for their SAP private cloud deployment.

As part of SAP’s Customer Success organization, we are looking for highly motivated and customer-focused team members to strengthen the Cloud Architecture & Advisory team (CAA). The Cloud Architect Expert acts as a primary point of contact for all technical topics from a customer perspective and works closely with all the other internal teams.

What You’ll Do

This is a customer-facing role focused on Strategic Customers where you will support broader virtual account teams during the entire sales cycle of a Cloud deal. The following are the key tasks that this role will perform:

Present RISE Private Cloud offering, technical details, and engagement model to internal and external stakeholders.
Build customer-specific cloud roadmaps to support cloud adoption and Business Transformations
Gather as-is technical requirements and map them to to-be Enterprise cloud architecture
Assess customer security and network requirements to make sure the SAP security architecture framework can meet customer requirements
Work with SAP delivery and engineering teams to address customer-specific requirements
Present the value proposition for SAP private cloud on Hyperscale clouds like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
Conduct Technical Assessment workshops with customers to define the future Cloud architecture and support the migration roadmap together with partners, System Integrators, and or SAP Professional Services
Guide customers on all technical aspects like Business Continuity, Security & Compliance, Networks, etc
Own the technical discussions with the customer and act as the orchestrator of experts to obtain expertise from the SAP delivery organization as required
Act as Trusted Advisor to VAT and assigned customers on all technical aspects of SAP RISE

What You Bring

High proficiency in customer communications and presentations is required
High proficiency in the SAP product portfolio, offerings, and industry solutions
Good understanding of SAP solutions (releases, platform interdependencies, etc.)
Good understanding of operational aspects (Application or Technical) of SAP solutions in a cloud environment.
Good understanding of capabilities of at least one Hyperscale Clouds (AWS; MS Azure or GCP)
Ability and willingness to be part of a global team of Cloud Architects
Willingness to undertake customer-related travel on short notice
Fluency in English is a MUST, any other language is an asset
2+ years of customer-facing pre-sales and cloud architecture role is an advantage
8+ years of customer-facing SAP Technical Consulting experience
8+ years of solution design, enterprise architecture, and or SAP implementation
SAP NetWeaver, OS/DB migration, SAP HANA, TOGAF certifications are a plus
Experience and certifications with IaaS Providers (AWS, MS Azure, or GCP) are a big advantage
SAP HANA and S/4 HANA skills would be very helpful but not mandatory
Cloud security including Cyber Security, Encryption, and key management knowledge is preferred

The Digital Cloud Advisory Team is part of the SAP Enterprise Cloud Services organization. We seek highly motivated and customer-focused team members within this team to strengthen the Digital Cloud Architecture & Advisory team (DCAA) in NA. The Cloud Architect Advisor works predominantly in the pre-sales phase as a subject matter expert, acting as the primary point of contact for all technical topics related to the private cloud deployment from a customer perspective. It works closely with all the other internal SAP teams to prepare customers for success on their cloud journey under RISE with SAP.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

This is a customer-facing role in which you will support the sales teams during the entire cycle of a Cloud deal. The following are the essential tasks that this role will perform:

Present in detail technical and operational aspects of the RISE with SAP S/4HANA Cloud, private edition offering, including respective managed service offerings (usually to CIO’s, IT managers, data center managers, and SAP Technology staff)
Present the technical requirements and value proposition for SAP private cloud on SAP Data Centres, Premium Suppliers, and Hyperscalers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Conduct technical assessment workshops with customers to define the future cloud architecture and plan the migration roadmap with partners, System Integrators, and/or SAP Professional Services.
Guide customers on non-functional capabilities such as Business Continuity, Cybersecurity & Compliance, Networking, Technical Operations, and service consumption.
Work on Pricing using tools such as Quote Tool, Configurator, etc.
Work with other teams within the Customer Success board area to generate pricing and provide ongoing deal support to sales teams.
Own the technical discussions with the customer and act as the orchestrator of experts to obtain expertise from the SAP Enterprise Cloud Services delivery organization as required.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Business Administration required from an accredited university.
High proficiency in customer communications and presentations is required.
High proficiency in the SAP product portfolio, offerings and industry solutions.
Good understanding of SAP solutions (releases, platform interdependencies etc.)
Good understanding of operational aspects (Application and Technical) of SAP solutions in a cloud environment.
Good understanding of the entire platform stacks (storage, virtualization, hardware, networks etc.)
Good understanding of technical capabilities of at least one Hyperscale provider (AWS, MS Azure or GCP), certifications are a must.
Ability and willingness to be part of a global team of Cloud Architects
Willingness to undertake customer related travel on short notice.
Fluency in English; any other language is an asset (Portuguese and French are preferred).

WORK EXPERIENCE

8+ years of customer facing SAP Consulting experience.
8+ years of solution design, enterprise architecture and/or SAP implementation.
Experience in a customer facing pre-sales role is an advantage.
Experience with SAP BTP, IaaS Providers (AWS, MS Azure or GCP), SAP Premium Suppliers and/or data centers is a big advantage.
Cybersecurity & Compliance expertise is an advantage.
SAP Application Lifecycle Management and or SAP Operations experience is an advantage.
ITSM, Service Design & Delivery experience is an advantage.
SAP HANA and S/4 HANA skills are an advantage.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic Industry Account Executive with proven experience in federal enterprise software sales to lead business development and account management for SAP solutions across the Department of Defense (DoD) and the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC). This role drives SAP Cloud growth, digital transformation, and mission-aligned innovation for national defense and intelligence operations.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of SAP technologies, strong federal acquisition expertise, and a well-established network across DoD and IC agencies.

Key Responsibilities include:

Account Leadership:

Own and manage SAP’s strategic engagement with assigned Intelligence Community and DoD accounts.
Develop and execute comprehensive account plans aligned with customer missions, enterprise IT strategies, and modernization initiatives.

Sales Execution:

Manage the full sales cycle—from prospecting to close—achieving and exceeding annual revenue targets across cloud subscriptions, services, and renewals.
Leverage internal resources (marketing, inside sales, partners) to drive demand generation.
Conduct White Space analyses to identify up-sell and cross-sell opportunities.
Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline, and account intelligence in CRM systems.

Strategic Engagement:

Build trusted relationships with senior civilian, military, and contractor stakeholders.
Gain deep insight into customer missions, technology landscapes, budgets, and acquisition strategies.
Position SAP solutions effectively against competitors and in alignment with mission-critical outcomes.

Solution Positioning & Collaboration:

Utilize SAP’s full portfolio—including industry-specific and LoB solutions—to meet customer requirements.
Collaborate with SAP and SAP NS2 teams, system integrators, and channel partners to architect secure, compliant solutions across ERP, analytics, cloud, cybersecurity, and AI/ML domains.
Partner with SAP Public Sector and NS2 leadership to shape go-to-market strategies for the defense and intelligence community.

Requirements/Must Haves:

5–8 years of experience in enterprise software or technology sales within the U.S. federal market, focused on DoD or IC customers.
Proven record managing multi-million-dollar accounts and complex, long-cycle federal sales.
Experience in Selling into and supporting the Intelligence Community
Expertise in SaaS sales models and methodologies (e.g., Value Selling, MEDDPIC).
Deep familiarity with SAP or equivalent enterprise platforms.
Thorough understanding of federal procurement processes, contract vehicles (GWACs, IDIQs, OTAs), and budget cycles.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
Active U.S. security clearance (TS/SCI+ poly).

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong negotiation experience with renewals, expansions, and subscription-based solutions.
Background in digital transformation, data analytics, or cloud modernization within the defense sector.
Strategic, creative thinker with strong executive presence.
Ability to collaborate effectively across matrixed teams.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, or Engineering (e.g., Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems), or a related field, or equivalent work experience. MBA or equivalent experience is preferred.
